Can we burry the past and live in present?
Do we pass a lot of time thinking
about the past, what happened in the past, what was bad or good in the past? what
could have been changed or could not have happened? Do you have bad experiences
of the past? Does the happenings of the past are hurting you and you are lost
in the past dilemma? I guess most of us must face this sooner or later in the
life, for we are part of this great but insensitive and pseudo-civilized
civilization.
These are somethings which has a
prolonged effect on the mental and physical health of an individual, kill or
reduce the interest in work, reduce curiosity, efficiency and focus as well. Very
few people have good friends, relatives or parents with whom they can discuss
their mental health related issues. Since these issues remain unnoticed, they
cause a lot of harm to mental and physical well being of the individuals. We generally
don’t share such things with even the so-called closest ones because it is
considered as a taboo or disorder.
Now, what cause the stress,
mental pressure, mental dilemma? There can be a number of causes like
unsatisfactory work, financial condition, family pressure, societal pressure,
unsound relationships, failures, affairs, distrust and mis happenings etc. These
factors more or less affect us in our lives since we are living in so many
systems like institutions, families, religious setups, relationships, society
etc. the systems has some norms, rules and regulations, does and don’ts etc.
which are predetermined and are rigid in nature.
There are other causes like failures,
deceptions, tortures, obligations and some responsibilities which are imposed. Individuals
suffer with these problems which are psychological and has their origin and
solution in our own thinking process and psychology. We remain lost in
compulsive thinking of the past, bring past into the beautiful and actionable “the
now”, remember painful experiences of life and cry, with time it becomes a
habit and we start enjoying this pain. This destroy us, make us mentally
handicapped and inefficient and compulsively thinking robotic machines.
It is always obvious that we all
have a “today”, the only part of time which can bring a revolution in our life.
How much disastrous or dreadful the past may be, there is always a hope that we
have today “the present” in our hands. But we remain cling to the past, we don’t
burry the past and move ahead in the life, we want to maintain a superficial continuity
of the mental dilemma and images we called past relationships or happenings. We
remain cling to the past which is an illusion.
A philosopher once said that “the
biggest problem with the human being is that, they do not think actually”. He is
right in several senses, we do not think, once we start thinking we begin to
ask questions to ourselves as well as to the systems so created. Questioning bring
a lot of changes and help us understand the cause and effect of problems.
A professor gave two examples
during the discussion with me, he said that suppose you are using room heater
in winter, will you continue using it in the summer also? I said certainly not,
because it is of no use in summer. In the same manner, what happened with us in
past loses its relevance in the very future, because future has its own
opportunities and experiences for us, he replied. He quoted another example, if
someone is sitting with his feet drowned in the river, he is experiencing
different sensations from the beginning till now. He doesn’t understand that
with every passing second, he is experiencing differently because with every
second fresh water is flowing below his feet. Similarly, time passes, and it
brings with its new opportunities, new experiences, new life, we should remain
ready and capable to enjoy and experience the new opportunities.
One should be strong enough that how
little or big problems may be, they could not destabilize you or tear you
apart. There always exist a second chance in life, a new journey starts where
the older one ends. Enjoy the beauty of nature, world, get attached but don’t own or possess, give
what you can but don’t expect the return, grow yourself everyday like a fruiting
tree, keep your words till death but don’t expect this from other people, talk
to yourself, laugh on yourself, think, read and write, these deeds will change
you completely.
If possible don’t speak too much,
silence has great healing power, in
silence you speak, observe and converse with yourself continuously, don’t confront
or argue with useless people who are not worthy of your time, take a sigh,
smile and move away. There is a lot to do than to argue or think about those
who don’t deserve or respect your time, attention, care and concern.
Don’t own or possess and you will
have no fear of losing anything, don’t expect anything from anyone and you will
have no complaint to anyone, don’t believe firmly in any ism, power, words and
sentences and you will have no fear of deception, mistrust. Don’t make yourself
so available that everyone can come and make use of you and pass away, have a
meaningful life with a big purpose and you will have no time to think uselessly.
Don’t limit your world around an
ideology, god, a person, region or belief and you will discover that there is a
lot to know, experience, learn, unearth and enjoy in the world. Psychological boundaries
caged our intellect and discovering ability. For life is living anew every moment
otherwise you are dead disguised as living.
