WORKING IN A SYSTEM AND INTER-DEPENDENCY
I think it is very easy to
walk alone if the way and the destination is clear, if one is clear about the
destination even the paths can be searched out or can be made anew. In this
case the command giver and commander taker are same, decision taking authority
is in one own hand, when to act, when to walk, when to halt is decided by you. One
who make the plan and one who do the appraisal are the same i.e. you. Sometimes
you fail and sometimes you succeed, you learn from your failures and your successes
give you impetus and energy to keep moving. Analytically it looks very comfortable
and easy as you are independent in all the way, every credit or discredit goes
to you. You have a very little or no connection with the world and worldly dynamics
and activities affect you a little. You feel happy, burden free, responsible
and accountable to yourself only, it looks that a world created by you is your
own.
But when you come in the
systems be it home, religions, institutions etc. it becomes necessary for you
to walk along with others, diffuse your little world in bigger world, become we
from I, responsibilities become collective not individual since you are a unit
in a big system, your actions are now guided, directed and disciplined, you had
to follow some code of conducts, most of the things are already decided for you
by some people, your own ways are lost now in the wilderness of role and duties,
you are doing something with undecided purposes as a systemic routine activity,
your questions become annoyance and a sign of danger. You could not take little
decisions even for yourself, smaller things become complicated and made you
think for hours without any result or conclusion, because some decisions are already
taken, others will be taken by someone else who is rarely aware of the reality.
Slowly and slowly your concerns fade away from the minds and systemic
obligations becomes your foremost duties although you don’t want to carry out
those duties. In simple words you are on the regressive path where you don’t know
where to go but you are going aimlessly.
You will be having ideas which
can deal with real situations but could not implement those because
implementation key is in someone else hands. Systems make you mechanical,
regiment you, trained your mind to think in a particular pattern, kill and
discourage queries and logical clarifications. In simple term our systems
corrupt us in every manner and then blame the malfunctioning and chronic low
performances of the system. It can be true, but the question is who comprise
the system? Every person in a particular setup from peon to a director, from a
child to elder most member, from a gate keeper to an office bearer all are the
units of a system. And it is obvious that if systems are corrupt, we are also corrupt
because systems work like a machine where each part of machine need to work
properly, deformity or disorder in one unit/part can affect the whole system. And
this is what happens. But majority of the time it looks that deformities occurs
in main parts of the systems and these deformities affect or paralyze other
units too. This is why if you are in a system, you cannot work or perform not
because of your fault but because of systemic fault. But the question is who
has the key to keep the system going and work properly, I guess the answer can
be simple every single unit of machinery(system) i.e. we.
